[LinuxBIOS] Trying to test my RD1

So I have SST49FL080A Bios chip. I bought the RD1-LPC8 to work with it (has a W39V080A) So I downloaded the old rom from the first chip, then flipped the switch and did the reverse. But when I reboot with the RD1 enabled nothing happens. Aren't these chips interchangable? Did I flash something wrong? Second question is about my linuxbios. I tried to build my first instance of linux bios with a etherboot payload. Seems to build fine, from the most of the defaults. But Flashrom won't accept it. Says the image is the wrong size. It seems to be 512KB instead of 1024KB. I am not sure I understand all the options yet. How do I make this the right size? W39V080A found at physical address: 0xfff00000 Flash part is W39V080A (1024 KB) Error: Image size doesnt match Thanx Nicholas

[LinuxBIOS] flashrom with SST49FL080A

So I have what I thought was an 8MB flash device on my motherboard. (Tyan s2895) with this I am using the RD1-LPC8 as a backup. Well for my first test I read the flash from the original ROM. Flipped the switch on the RD1 and wrote it back. This did not seem to work. Looking at the files that I created from flashrom, it seems that flashrom is only reading 1024k of the device and storing that in a file. Is that on purpose? Why is the file not 8MB? nicholas

[LinuxBIOS] [PATCH] GPL headers for src/device/* in LinuxBIOSv2

Hi, here's a patch which adds explicit license headers to all files in src/device in LinuxBIOSv2. Files originally written by Eric Biederman (CC'd) are copyright Linux Networx, and are licensed under the GPLv2 (confirmed by Eric in private mail). There's one file which was written by Li-Ta Lo and one by Yhlu. For simplicity I put them in as GPLv2, too (but if you prefer "GPLv2 or later" we can use that as well -- just let us know). My understanding is that if in doubt whether to use "GPLv2" or "GPLv2 or later" we can always safely assume GPLv2. That's because even _if_ the file was "GPLv2 or later" we could always just use it under the GPLv2. The text says "GPLv2 _or_ later" and we simply choose the GPLv2 only. Anyway, please complain if I got something wrong in the patches, or if an of the authors prefer "GPLv2 or later" over "GPLv2" (or vice versa). See patch. The CONFIG_USE_PRINTK_IN_CAR stuff doesn't seem to compile, so I commented it for now (needs fixing later). Using __PAYLOAD__ instead of PAYLOAD fixes abuild breakage (it tries to replace "PAYLOAD", but that will also replace the "PAYLOAD" in "CONFIG_COMPRESSED_PAYLOAD_LZMA"... Hi, I use Linuxbios with my VIA Epia MII-12000 board. I installed a dual pci riser card in the one and only PCI slot. Now the problem is: the bios only assigns an IRQ to PCI device number 0x13 an 0x14. -> 0x14 is the first slot on the riser card -> second slot on the riser card is configurable between 0x04 .. 0x11 (or something). Obviously the device in the second slot on the riser card does not work, regardless which DN# I configure, because it gets no IRQ assigned. So I decided to configure the second slot to be 0x05 and change the BIOS accordingly.
