[LinuxBIOS] OK, I'm lost

I warned you guys that when I started my CX700 port that my lack of intellect would be a problem. Well, I don't even know where to start. I assume that I need to create a VT8454 directory in targets/via and mainboard/via (VT8454 is the eval board,I'm actually working on getting an MSI Industrial MS-9802 so I may have to copy everything over to that since I doubt the VT8454 will do anyone any good). But I'm not sure what to copy into those directories as a starting point? Is the EPIA-M good enough, I'm having a hard time parsing the files in there so I'm at a loss. In the src/northbridge and src/sourthbridge directories I assume I'll need to create a cx700 directory. But once again I'm at a loss as to which directory to use as a base platform. Everything I know about the CX700 seems so different that I'm concerned nothing will work. If I can just get it started to a point where I start getting serial output I think I'll have a place where I can at least start working and try things. If I use the EPIA-M setup, do you think I'll at least get that far? I've included my lspci and dmidecode output for everyone's reading pleasure. Thanks, Randy

Anyways... flashrom also failed to detect the default flash (STMicroelectronics 256k) but, I replaced the STM flash with one of my DOC2000 chips and flashrom successfully detected my DOC at 0xffffe000. Also, the generic single cpu 440bx board, flashrom doesn't detect any flash chips. So I've loaded up uniflash and it tells me the flash chip is at the standard 0xfffc0000 -> (DA256C2D) It's a STMicroelectronics M29F002(B)(T)/5V XMSPos XMSLeft and sector map can also be provided, but I think what we want is just the memory location of the flash bios chip (0xfffc0000)? On my Tyan 1832DL (440BX), flashrom will execute and enable the bios. (I'm guessing right enable?) On my other single cpu generic 440BX board, flashrom hangs "Calibrating delay loop...". (Maybe I've just hit an anonmoly with this again while loading l440gx mtd map module. I'll find out within a day or so as one of these boxes will act up.) [LinuxBIOS] Success: GA-M57SLI-S4 dual bios

Hi I am pretty happy that i can report success! Ok, i still don't have any Linuxbios running... but yesterday i received the flashchips for the GA-M57SLI board. Already programmed with the F8 version of the original bios. The onboard bios was flashed to the F7 version. I have soldered a PLCC32 socket to the board and connected a switch to the open pads. I can now switch between the F7 and F8 version. I will post the details as time permits. The solution is quite neat and i think it is easier than desoldering a PLCC32 chip. Soldering is of curse still required but no desoldering. Next stop will be actually flashing linuxbios. Thanks for all who helped me out! ST

[LinuxBIOS] PLAICE Update

The PLAICE wiki is growing: http://flash-plaice.wikispaces.com/ We have an experimental multichannel logic analyzer package for the PLAICE now with the JAVA client. We also have a complete binary Linux demo for the board that uses the MicroBlaze cpu, Ethernet, directional buttons, GPIO, rotary encoder and USB. There is a fully featured shell, small footprint fully featured embedded webserver, GPIO demo, text games, C++ demos and telnet application. We will start on the probes and adapters in the next few weeks. We should be able to port Flashrom and begin working on code for the emulator soon. Help from anyone is very welcome for application development. -Bari
