PCI configuration question

Hello all, In the LinuxBIOS-AMD64 document the author explains the "pci" keyword > The first occurrence of the pci keyword tells LinuxBIOS where the bridge device start, > relative to PCI configuration space used by the bridge. The following occurences of > the pci keyword describe the provided devices. then gives an example > northbridge amd/amdk8 "mc1" > pci 0:19.0 > pci 0:19.0 > pci 0:19.0 > pci 0:19.1 > pci 0:19.2 > pci 0:19.3 > end I'm not clear why the example repeate "pci 0:19.0" three times? I noticed in chip.c the chip_enumerate() function checks the same path > identical_paths = (i > 0) && (path_eq(&chip->path[i - 1].path, &chip->path[i].path)); but I can't find out the real intent. Another question maybe related to the former one is, in "device" structure what does the "link[MAX_LINKS]" and "links" member describe? Does "link[MAX_LINKS]" describes the secondary or subordinate bus of a bridge device? Why MAX_LINKS is defined to 3? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably give it a try w/V1 and see how it goes. What V2 errors do you see? I'm using the EPIA M10000: vt8623 northbridge (CLE266) and vt8235 southbridge. I haven't been able to get V2 to compile as yet for it. V1 compiles and runs properly but AGP doesn't work. I can't seem to find the right way to setup the GART and GATT. Without the datasheets, what can I do? Without AGP support, Xwindows will run but playing videos or doing 3D will crash the system. Also, I'm not sure how to setup the video encoder. I wouldn't recommend the EPIA M10000 simply because VIA has been anything but free and open with the specs. However, that's what I'm using until something better comes along. Good luck. David

hi all, what is the best biscuit board currently supported for linuxbios. Which experience do you have with the pcm 5823? is the sst28SF040 enough (512KB) to include a linux kernel in the bios? thanks -- Jakob

EPIA-M - which board for freebios2?

I'm jumping in to V2 and need a target - the EPIA-M seems to be an inexpensive board to learn on. The EPIA M10000 w/C3 1GHz CPU seems to be readily available for ~$150. Which mainboard version / model # is everyone/anyone using with "targets/via/epia-m"? Thanks, - Tom

VIA EPIA-M and two port riser?

Anyone know what's involved in getting Via's two port PCI riser (which supposedly makes use of special features in the VIA BIOS) working under linuxbios? As it stands I don't get an IRQ assigned to whatever's in the top slot, so I'm assuming it's not working as of now. Is it as simple as adding the missing pci_assign_irqs for device 0x13?

Still wait for Nvidia releasing the chipset. Some one said it will be released this Oct. Also I hope more guys can push Nvidia to let us to release the code for that. Nvidia doesn't make the final decision if they will support LinuxBIOS. You can comment out dir /drivers/broadcom/tg3 too. Current Etherboot has problem with NIC is S2850. I forget the chip model. So I use one add on card to do network booting.
