Basically you need flash_rom to flash romimage. It can be built from cvs tree(freebios/util/flash_and_burn). VIA EPIA up!

Works fine. My earlier problem was as follows: I have a PS/2 power supply with soft power switch always jumpered on. I would turn on this power supply, the EPIA would get power, but it needs to also still see a closure on the power switch before it will come up. Soft power is not always your friend. Now, the question is, what's the right etherboot image for this board? Anybody built one yet? Thanks to Andrew and Kevin for all their fine work on this board. $105 now gets you a PIII/800 equivalent. Amazing. ron

Hi, Can anyone help me with the procedures needed to setup LinuxBios for a VIA EPIA? Got the rom image and the kernel. I need to flash it but I haven't got the software. Is this process documented somewhere (as www.linuxbios.org ) does not seem to work and www.cwlinux.com documentation is not very explicit in this direction. Any help, suggestion would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks SS

Hi, I am porting the northbridge 82845e for my motherboard. While coding raminit.inc file, I took the file from the 82830 chipset directory and modified as per the requirement of the 82845e chipset. Now I want to know, How to get the register value of the regsiters, like DRB DRAM ROW BOUNDARY REGISTER and etc. Do I need to read these regsiter value from the system using normal BIOS? I could not find much details about the values in the specification. Is my assumption is correct? Thanks, Siva

LinuxBIOS hangs while copying the image from ROM TO RAM.

Hi, The following piece of code is from crt0.base file. In my case it is hanging while copying the Image from ROM to RAM. From the serial output, it is sure that SDRAM testing is passed. But it hangs while doing movsb and rep instruction. I feel that value in the ecx register is getting corrupted and the loop runs for ever. Checkin util/flash_and_burn/flash.h util/flash_and_burn/flash_rom.c added support to w29c011 which is on BIOS Savior RD1-1M. I cut the trace, enabled flash and flashed it. I'm now the proud owner of a doorstop. :-) At the end of this email is a paste from the serial log. It boots, says it jumps to RAM, my HDD light flickers (I'm using the BOOT_IDE flag) and then it starts over again. A couple of questions: Is it saying it's happy with the system RAM? I do not have a kernel image at the location I said it would be at in the config file, which is why I _think_ that it is rebooting, but I thought there'd be some kind of log message stating something to that effect. My other question is one I probably already know the answer to: is there a serial-port flash util in LinuxBIOS? It's not a big big deal, I knew the risks going in to this but I'd like to try and get around desoldering a TQFP part and buying the adaptor (and socket) if I can help it. These motherboards were only $10, it seems silly to spend hundreds to reflash it. :-) (and yeah, the date is right... it's been over a month since I've been really working on it. :-) Regards, Andrew LinuxBIOS-1.0.0 Mon Nov 25 21:39:06 EST 2002 starting... Getting junk character in Serial Ouput.

Hi, I am getting following message through the serial output. The message is SDRAM TEST Passed. After that I am doing MTRR Initializing. In the serial output I am getting some character.
