[COMMIT] fix for e7501

Greetings, I have committed the fix for RAM on e7501 boards with 533MHz FSB cpus. This has been tested with 400MHz CPUs as well with no apparent problems. Hi Ron, While looking at the differences between the LinuxBIOS setting and the Award settings as you suggested yesterday, I came across this little problem. It seems that the sizeram routine is incorrectly reducing the memory size by 1M when there is nothing assigned to the VGA framebuffer. I've attached a patch that corrects the calculation. Eric may be too busy to explain freebios2 so I'll pitch in. We are trying to freeze the current freebios code base (current goal is 5/15 since fixes keep rolling in) and give people something that works. First frozen version will be 1.0.1. Then we want to move to a new 'cruft-free' code base. This seemed the right time to branch. I would hope that folks who own mainboards, and who are committers, would start looking at the new code base and seeing what it takes to get moved to it. I will be personally starting work on an Arima K8 mainboard this week. ron

Status of 2.0?

Howdy, I see that Eric has started a 2.0 port for the BIOS. I'm interested in the status and the plans. I've a couple of projects that are looking at using Linux BIOS and I'm doing a test port for a new platform. Eric, can you fill me in? Jordan

Greetings, I have confirmed that setting 0x80 = 0x0bb6 in the northbridge gets ram going both for 533 and 400 MHz FSB CPUs on x5dpr and tiger i7501 boards. Eric, unless you have a specific objection to that change, I will commit it. [linuxBIOS] IDE HDD detecting

Hi guys, I'm new on the list. I'm using my own mainboard and I'm having problems with IDE HDD probing. the function ide_init() seems to return 0 *even* there are no HDDs attached on the system. Anyone know what to do? The one thing I noticed is that if there is no HDD ******************************** init_drive: sectors_per_track=[108], num_heads=[108], num_cylinders=[108] IDE1 108/108/108 cap: 006c ******************************** is printed.

Greetings, I finally got some hardware in to test that. I have it working now and will commit once I verify it still works for the 400 FSB case. Seems that setting 0x0bb1 into 0x80 on the northbridge is a good idea after all. I think the best bet is cvs diff -u, and then send it to andrew ip and me, and we'll see what we can do. ron
