VMware reality check

I decided to look into using VMware for coreboot development, but even though we support the same chipset (i440bx), since VMware doesn't emulate the CPU you can end up with an Opteron on i440bx, or a laptop processor with i440bx, etc. Has anyone run into this? Is there a reasonable way to make this work? Do you really have to configure coreboot for VMware based on which CPU the host has? Thanks, Myles

amd/db800 build failure on Fedora 8

Hello All, I am trying to build coreboot for amd/db800 target with filo as the payload. I am compiling this on Fedora 8 and I see that ld is reporting a error ".id can't be allocated in segment 1. I have installed the latest version of binutils ( three packages) and I am using the latest code base so I have all the patches that were submitted to fix this issue. The ld version is 2.18.50.0.3-1. Any idea whats going on ? Regards, Phani

Here we go again - the "classic" vsa patch is being resubmitted, along with the openVSA patch and a FILO bug fix just for funsies. You should now be able to build a openVSA blob into your v2 code and shoot for the moon (even when it is eclipsed). v3 love is still needed, but it should be pretty straight forward from this point on.
