Eric, I add second serial_x.c to support com2. then it works well. The "Firmware type: LinuxBIOS" only comes out in COM1. Which segement print " Firmware type: LinuxBIOS" ?, it seems hardcoded to use 0x3f8. Who has met such problem? I changed the linuxbios to direct message to com2 via changing 1. SP1 to SP2 in auto.c 2. enable com2 in Config.lb 3. change 0x3f8 to 0x2f8 in Options.lb Etherboot change 0x3f8 to 0x2f8. Then After Ethertboot get the elf image from tftp server, it will hang a while (30s) at "Firmware type: LinuxBIOS", and that message is not shown. I remember several months ago, when I make message comes to both ports (COM1 and COM2), it worked well.... Weird. Here is NXTV's ramini.c to be placed in version 1 of linuxbios src/northbridge/via/vt8623/raminit.inc It was written by Felipe Rodriguez for NXTV and is now being contributed back to the linuxbios project. His email address is included in the comments in the file. It assumes the SPD contents on the module are valid, and it sets up the CLE266 DDR controller appropriately. Features: o Detects number of ram banks o Properly tunes tunables o Detects column and row address sizes o Works for every 128M DDR module we've tried as well as one 256M module, correctly setting the available memory in linux. o Lots of comments for reference Now if someone else wants to convert this X86 code to C code for romcc in version 2, that would be great. this is on arima hdama. I build a linuxbios and it boots fallback. All is fine. I use cmos_util to set boot options to normal and reboot. This is fine. Then I reboot one more time. NO serial output, no nothing. NO output at all. Anyone seen this? ron

Any ides on how to build a confing for the 82855GME northbridge? I am having no end of problems setting up linux bios on my LV-671 motherboard. Been working on this board for a few weeks now. I have two other system running Linux BIOS with out any problems, but they are both 440bx systems. This system is running a north bridge that is not supported (82855GME), yet. First and for most, to get the system booting. As of yet I have been unable to get the system to boot, console or vga output. So far I have built up a custom config basted on the tyan tiger board already in the motherboard folder, but had very little luck compiling and none booting. The flash ROM chip is 512KB in size; I am hoping to fit the whole Linux bios on that; just enough to boot the main kernel off the disk.. I have a nice flash burner, and have no issues with bad flash's, I can always reflash with the stock bios. I would like to stay away from having to buy a DOC for this system. The motherboard has built on CF (compact flash) if I can't fit the whole Linux bios on the flash ROM, then I am going to try to boot from the ROM and switch to the CF, but this may be the same idea as booting from HDD. The whole point of this is to get my system to boot faster. I would like to build this into my car as an embedded MP3 player. I have almost every thing running correctly in Linux, MP3's, GPS, Hibernate(suspend to disk) but need a faster boot time. Now I can make intelfb work correctly. I upgrade intelfb driver of kernel 2.4.28 to 0.7.7 I have downloaded from author's website. It can work and cursor there is no problem. Linuxbios is very great work. I just grab some code from factory's bios and set northbridge and southbridge after the values of vendor's bios. I can make it boot linux 2.4.28.
