Hi Guys!
Can someone help me to get coreboot support for my board MS-6702E?
Thank you very much!

Could you please include more information so that the developers – not me – can save some time by not searching for it individually for themselves. Like a link to a web page of the manufacturer with more information for this board.
What chipsets does this board have? Are they supported [1]?
Also some program outputs would be nice [2].
Do you have the means to recover from a failed flash? Do you have some extra flash chips [3]?
Thanks,
Paul

Ok thank you Paul for this hints. Here some Specs which I could find out easily, attached in the jpg file.

Thank you for your answer. Please copy the values as text into the message next time for better quoting and handling.
• Chipset/Northbridge(?): K8T800 Pro • Southbridge: VIA VT8237
I did not find those in the supported chipsets and devices list [1] so it is unlikely that the status concerning support has changed since this answer from Uwe regarding as different board but the same chips devices [2].
• LPCIO: W83627THF
There is ? at the list [1] but Uwe suggested that it is supported [2].
So it looks like to get support for your board you would need to start getting the documentation from VIA and start coding by yourself.
Unfortunately all developers are quite busy with long TODO lists so porting boards, which they do not own, in their free time is very unlikely. But they would definitely answer any questions you have during the process of porting the board yourself on this list or on IRC.
Thanks,
Paul

Thank you Paul. The main problem I have is that I am not a very well C Programmer so it will be impossible for me to get this board running with coreboot. :-(
But maybe I am lucky with my next board. :-)

I had the same situation being stuck if I was in your situation.
But maybe I am lucky with my next board. :-)
Hopefully. Just take a look at the supported list of boards [1]. Rudolf Marek is also working on porting coreboot to Asrock 939A785GMH having a recent AMD chipset SB700/RS780 [2].
Bests,

Hi Paul,
I think your missing the point of some of the other list posts that have been replied to you. A lot of what coreboot is about is motivation to solve and find information out yourself.
What chipsets and devices does it have?
I found this information on Google within 30 seconds of a search. Porting coreboot to a unsupported board is no easy task, and the main developers are busy working on other things (within coreboot) rather than porting boards. People here and in IRC are always willing to help, but it takes a little on your part as well.
I think that what has already been suggested to you is why not pick a new board from the supported boards on coreboot.org or a cheaper option would be try coreboot out in qemu, many of us here use qemu and it is by no means a second rate product.
Apologies for the lecture

Are you sure, you did not mix up the posts and the posters?

Well I kind of disagree. If an information has been found by someone why not share it and save the others the time having to search for it again.

I found this information on Google within 30 seconds of a search.
So why do not you share the link?
Of course everyone is able to find it by himself in a certain amount of time. But if every reader of this list has to do it this sums up to quite some amount.
So it would be nice if the information is provided in the message and even better with a link to the product page. So everyone interested does not waste any time.

I agree. But I think nobody behaved the way you described/assumed.
Apologies for the lecture
;-)
Oh, know I have a guess why this misunderstanding happened.
Maybe my change of the subject and you using Google Mail web interface which opens a new thread if the subject changes and does not adhere to the threading information in the messages header made you read this message out of context?
Thanks,
Paul
Paul,
It does appear I have jumped the gun a bit. I seen your name in a previous post with a similar subject. and thought 'god he's been told once' and went into rant mode......
Please accept my apologies for the misunderstanding.

Personally I think Paul is helping the project in a great way!
I can't imagine what it would have been like to be at LinuxTag without all his help there! And he certainly sends helpful replies to the mailing list.
If anyone deserved the rant, it was more the original poster. :)
Glad it got sorted out though!

Ok after this discussion I will provide all information about this ASUS Mainboard to the mailing list. Maybe tomorrow I am owner of this new board.

Finally I could get further informations for this mainboard. Acutally I do not have a Linux Distribution installed for gathering more information. I hope this helps you the developer for programming coreboot support for this motherboard. More Informations you will see in my attachment.
