Hi,
The below is for an Acer Aspire m3300 I'm interested in seeing if I can get coreboot onto.
I've included what was listed on the FAQ.
What do you think my odds of success are with this system or what we would need to do in order to get coreboot onto it.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Trevor

hi, i think it's possible to port coreboot to m3300 for it's 780/700 which has already been supported by coreboot. For that, you can fist try to choose one of the 780 mainboard which have already been supported like mahogany, ma78gm etc. modify the superIO to ITE IT8720F. Try to get the spec of IT8720 to make it work under coreboot. the first thing is letting the serial port working then we can continue the other things.
Best wishes Wang Qing Pei Phone: 86+18930528086

Hi,
The below is for an Acer Aspire m3300 I'm interested in seeing if I can get coreboot onto.
I've included what was listed on the FAQ.
What do you think my odds of success are with this system or what we would need to do in order to get coreboot onto it.
Thanks in advance for any help.

hi, i think it's possible to port coreboot to m3300 for it's 780/700 which has already been supported by coreboot.

Hi,
From what i have been able to find the it8720f is almost identical to
it8718f (the website says pin compatible). I haven't been able to find a public datasheet for it however. I checked the it87 hwmon driver which definitely confirms the similarity. The only it8720f specific sections was that it forces the routing of VCCH to VIN7 since some boards are configured improperly.
Would it be best to modify the current it8717f to work for it8720f or would be best to create a new directory "coreboot/src/superio/ite/it8720f"?
I modified supiotool to use the same registers as the it8718f. I've included its output at the bottom of this email. Does this look like it will be enough to get the system to the next stage or is there anything obvious missing.
Thanks again.
Trevor

hi trevor, since it8720f is almost the same as it8718, could pls try to use gigabyte ma78gm coreboot.rom. Take a lot at what we can got. if it8720 is much the same as it8718, it's not necessary to add an new directory. Best wishes Wang Qing Pei Phone: 86+18930528086
