I figured better safe to ask before tearing the laptop apart to find out what mobo is actually in it.

Afaik, no. There is no support for any Ati chipset included in linuxbios at this time, although support in the future may be possible. BTW, your laptop's internals match mine almost exactly, hp ze2308.
