Hi,
I'm blind and I want to try linuxbios to see if that will allow me to access the BIOS on a computer. I would like to try to build myself a new PC and I was wondering if anybody has a suggestion for a motherboard. On the web site, there's a list of mobos that linuxbios is known to work on but they seem to be server motherboards. I just want something that I can use for a desktop workstation.

we have not done desktops for a while. I wonder if an AMD GX2-based system might be good for you-- how much compute power are you looking for?

Not that much. Right now my Windows machine is a a 800 Mhz machine with 256Mb RAM. It serves me fine except that I can't access the BIOS and I just want to build a new PC just to do it -- you know, being blind and all. I thought I'd go for something fairly up-to-date but I don't want to spend too much money. But the point of this project is not to save money. I just want to build a really nice PC.
I have several linux machines but the one I use the most is a 150 Mhz machine. The linux screen reader works in character mode so I don't need much power. But I would like to make my new machine bual-boot.
I'd go with a tyan s2885 mobo to start -- has graphics, we know that linuxbios can bring up 8x AGP cards on it, supported in linuxbios.

Dual boot? That might be a problem. I know Windows 2000 has been booted with LinuxBIOS, but I can't remember any Windows XP success stories.
