This works for SimNOW.  It had been hanging for a while and reporting:

Keyboard init...
Keyboard controller output buffer result timeout
Timeout while enabling keyboard. (No keyboard present?)
Keyboard controller output buffer result timeout

It also doesn't break my Tyan s2895.
