Hi All:
Just wanted to make sure the grub2.tar from http://www.coreboot.org/GRUB2 is a working version.
I download grub2.tar per instructed: ' wget http://coreboot.org/viewmtn/revision/tar/edae9d3e3d999c07b2d8a99f04f2585 86eb79297 -O grub2.tar '
However, when I tried to untar it, I received errors as below:
beamer:.../vlim/coreboot[ 191 ] --> tar -xvf grub2.tar tar: This does not look like a tar archive tar: Skipping to next header tar: Archive contains obsolescent base-64 headers tar: Read 264 bytes from grub2.tar tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
Anyone has the same experience as me ?
Best Regards,
Vincent

I've never tried that one. The lastest/greatest grub2 for coreboot is probably the one documented at
http://grub.enbug.org/CoreBoot
I've used that version of grub2 with coreboot, succesfully. The only issue that I've come across and has not been fixed yet is that Xen does not boot - but normal Linux kernels are no problem.
Thanks, Ward.

It looks like the link is wrong and it points to a HTML page.
$ wget http://coreboot.org/viewmtn/revision/tar/edae9d3e3d999c07b2d8a99f04f258586eb... -O grub2.tar --2009-02-26 08:19:25-- http://coreboot.org/viewmtn/revision/tar/edae9d3e3d999c07b2d8a99f04f258586eb... […] Länge: nicht spezifiziert [text/html] […] $ file grub2.tar grub2.tar: HTML document text

Paul

viewmtn didn't make the transition to the new server as we dropped the cbgrub2 project, which was its only user.
I checked out the revision linked above, and put a tarball at http://coresystems.de/~patrick/coreboot.org-grub2-20080731.tar.bz2, and updated the instructions in the wiki.

Thanks for updating the http://www.coreboot.org/GRUB2 page. I was able to build the grub2 elf file.
