qemu stdvga will work just fine.  Use ...

CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_KEEP_VESA_MODE=y

... to get a coreboot framebuffer.  Use ...

CONFIG_DRIVERS_EMULATION_QEMU_BOCHS_XRES=1024
CONFIG_DRIVERS_EMULATION_QEMU_BOCHS_YRES=768

... to set the preferred resolution.
