Does anybody know who outputs this string? Is it etherboot or the Linux 
kernel? I cannot find these strings in the sources, neither in the
kernel nor 
etherboot sources.

thank you very much. You point me to the right direction. It was a simple 
pointer error in convert_parameters.c from the mkelfimage package. Now my 
kernel starts up (currently it fails when it tries to get ip configuration 
data through DHCP).
