Intel or AMD NTB - Non Transparent Bridge support and hardware

Hi,

Just seeing some nice 2 node HA cluster systems on the market, that have 
HTB seemingly just by connecting a PCIe port directly between AMD Epyc 
CPUs.

It occurred to me that 2 commodity motherboards could be connected by 
crossover SlimSAS, OcuLink, MiniSAS HD, or any of the SFF-nnnn cables 
used for PCIe.  I think support of the BIOS would be required to 
configure the PCIe port into NTB mode.

Has anyone run across this while working on Coreboot?  It seems faster 
and cheaper than Infiniband cards... and more available given pervasive  
supply chain issues these days.
