Hi. I've examined kernel patches freebios/src/kernel_patches and the patched kernel 2.4.20 avaiable at cwlinux.com.
I've noticed that there is a way to configure linuxbios support and linuxbios power management if I apply linux-2.4.19-sis.patch to a vanilla 2.4.19.
On the other hand, cwlinux's kernel has some great patches (like preemptive kernel) and a 2.4.20 version, but no "linuxbios support".
Which one should I use? perhaps it's only a matter to apply linux-2.4.19-sis.patch to a 2.4.20 kernel (some work is needed) to have the best kernel for linuxbios.
bye thank you as

a deeper analisys showed me that both vanilla 2.4.19 and 2.4.20 don't have a well supported sis framebuffer; however, 2.4.19 with sis patch and 2.4.20-cwlinux have all the files to support it.
However I can't find a configuration key for the linuxbios powermanagement on 2.4.20-cwlinux. Is it enabled by default?
bye & thank you as
we need to get our minor patches into the cwlinux tree. These minor patches support power off etc. for sis chips.

kernel-source-linuxbios-2.4.20-CWLINUX_1.i386.rpm should contain sis patch already.

Yes I have that exact file; I've compared the directory entries for the sis video framebuffer and I saw it was patched; however, in linux-2.4.19-linuxbios there is a specific menu' entry for linuxbios support:
Sound ---> USB support ---> Bluetooth support ---> Kernel hacking ---> LinuxBIOS ---> --- Load an Alternate Configuration File Save Configuration to an Alternate File
while in 2.4.20-cwlinux I can't find it. I was wondering if it was enabled by default. That menu, in 2.4.19-linuxbios contains:
<*> LinuxBIOS Support (NEW) Linuxbios Options --->
and Linuxbios options is:
[*] Linuxbios Power Management support? (NEW) [*] S SIS 503 support? (NEW) [ ] P PIIX4E support? (NEW)
bye! thank you as
