Maybe somebody already knows about smolt project?

It's Fedora Project's aim to provide automatic statistics gathering of
hardware on which Linux is installed.  Thus far its installed by
default on Fedora-family of Linux distros and nothing prevents other
distros from including this handy tool (its already been tested in
SuSE).
