Our process is still ongoing so we will have new updates periodically to help include new FlashROM versions as well as new Tyan motherboards to this listing.

Our plans are to go through our current product listings and see if we can get FlashROM to work on them.  We want to be able to add something other than AMI, Award or Phoenix as a flash utility for our customers.  We have been pleased with what the FlashROM utility does and we are working on further validation with this particular utility.

If a specific mainboard was tested and is working, please send a mail containing the mainboard and the flash chip you used, and what you tested on that mainboard+flash combination (verify, read, erase, write) to either [e-mail] or [e-mail]. Then we can update the web pages accordingly.

In case you wish to have new, currently unsupported mainboards supported by flashrom, let us know here, too. I think we can help.

board names to the matching product pages on your website. If you see
any mistakes, please tell us.

By the way, if flashrom works for a particular board on 32bit Linux, it
should work on 64bit as well and vice versa.

However, I believe the flash chip you mentioned for a few boards (PMC
49LF004T) does not exist according to PMC. Did you mean the PMC Pm49FL004T?
I know what the official Tyan website says (PMC 49LF004T), but I believe
that to be an error.
It would be great if you could look up the actual engraved model number
(below the colorful sticker) on such a flash chip.

You're 100% correct the actual chip is called pm49LF004T.

We simply called it PMC 49LF004T because it combines the brand name of
the chip and there isn't any other 49LF004T chips that PMC makes.

You can certainly call it pm49LF004T on the website.

We appreciate your time and support on adding this information to the
coreboot website.  As we get more products validated we will be sure to
send those to you as well.

We have successfully tested both the 32-bit and 64-bit FlashROM utility on the S5397 motherboard and found it 100% compatible.  Can we have the S5397 motherboard added to the compatibility listings?

The list which is included in the utility itself (flashrom -L) only
includes those mainboards which need a special board enable code
sequence, but I've added S5397 to http://coreboot.org/Flashrom now.
