Hi all, I've grepped through the source code last night but haven't found code for board that uses this chipset. Is there any support coming down the road? I'm planning to buy a new system for BIOS experiments in the next few days. This chipset is a candidate for me. I want a chipset with onboard video and K8 processor. I choose K8 because the datasheet for the memory controller is readily available. I'm open for any suggestion(s). Basically, I just want a system that can run Vista, support multicore processor and can be used for LinuxBIOS experiments (preferably without soldering stuff needed). Anyway, one further question: hot-flashing can be done on SPI chips as well, right?

Hi Darmawan, Currently there is no support in LinuxBIOS for any ATI(now AMD) chipsets. We do plan to work on this in the next six months but I don't have a specific release date.

Great news! Is this only for current and future chipsets, or might we see some older ones as well? Most interested in the RS480/SB400, btw, I'd like to mess around with it on my laptop and see what happens.
Thanks, Corey

Corey,
We will focus on current chipsets for now since that is what our customers need.

Is it possible for us here to obtain the SB600 datasheet? Or is it already available online, somewhere?
I've bought AMD690G board made by ECS yesterday. I want to play around with it ;-).

hmmm, can be downloaded from:
http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_739_15137,0...
But, I don't know how complete the datasheet over there ;-).

I had a look at the 690 stuff. It looked like it mainly contained info about chip pinouts and other stuff you'd want to know if you were to build a 690 based motherboard. Nothing about registers and that stuff.

The register documents have not been released. As Rasmus pointed out, the datasheets that have been released don't contain the registers. Marc

Are you held back by legal stuff or is it just the fact that it's of ATI origin? Also, is ACPI done by someone else who requires NDA like on the MCP55 or can one expect functional Powernow in a future 690 Linuxbios?

To be honest, I don't know all the details. Being a LB developer I would like to see the documents released but I don't know how or when that will happen. As for ACPI, when I do get a chance to work on the 690/600, there shouldn't be any NDA issues (obviously since I am an AMD employee). It is an internal requirement to have PowerNow working with LB.

Any news on AMD M690 Coreboot support now that it is part of the AMD Embedded Solutions group?

The 690/600 support should be available in the first half of this year. We moved it out a few months to bring in the Barcelona support. I don't have specific dates but we will announce the code to the list as soon as it is available.

The support would be on coreboot v2?linuxbios v2 right?

Hi Marc. I'm new to the ML, but was very curious about Barcelona(Phenom) support. Will we be able to run Phenom CPUs with coreboot on a 4Mbit BIOS? There were some rumors about only 8Mbit BIOS being supported. I'm definetely interested since I have two AM2 boards with 4Mbit BIOS chips. Either way, when will support be available? Best regards, Tiago Marques

Tiago,
The initial support is in coreboot v2. It will just fit in 4Mbit with fallback and filo only. maindboard/amd/serengeti_cheetah_fam10 would be the place to start. That mainboard is with the 8111/8131 chipset. I am looking for people to port to more mainboards/chipsets.
