[LinuxBIOS] Booting from a ethernet over ata device

Hi all I have just discovered the project and I was wondering if it could support the ethernet over ata protocol so it could boot up from a net drive. AFAIK it would require a 2.6 kernel which I don't know if there are plans to support it soon. But I think it could bring some new interesting possibilities. That would be crap, and it would not work. Eric pointed this out and I did not even notice what he was saying: EHCI has a workaround method called the "USB2 Debug port for legacy free machines" This debug port can be used by simple inb/outb sequences, not more complex than serial io. According to this document http://www.intel.com/technology/usb/download/DebugDeviceSpec_R090.pdf what you need is a debug device, which mostly looks like a usb style null modem cable. Addon card do need that. The LinuxBIOS will find the rom on that card. One copy (vga rom), and It is used by fallback and nomal booting. I know it is friday and we are all tired.... I have a VGA device off amd8132 channel B Trying VGA but LB hangs on the emulator..... Is the FallBack Image able to use VGA? in Config.lb... rom_image "normal" optiion ROM_SIZE is the romsize - vgabios but, there is no option ROM_SIZE in rom_image "fallback" does this mean we have to get a complete boot... then reboot to get VGA? Can you try some other VGA cards? Such as nvidia... I have tried LinuxBIOS with Serengeti_cheetah ( rev F Opteron) on SimNow, and it works well. I will try that with Serengeti_leopard later... I'm trying to get started with LinuxBios by using the AMD SimNow hardware simulator to run LinuxBios on a Serenade board. Once we have success with simulations, we will try it on real hardware. The Serenade board is one of the standard predefined boards that comes with the simulator. [LinuxBIOS] FYI: Free UEFI implementation not possible?

I asked the FSF copyright clerks about the possibility for FSF to become an adopting member of UEFI. This does not seem to be the case, though. Which more or less rules out a free UEFI implementation.
