Keeping old boards in a branch of coreboot that is not moving as fast as
upstream will reduce breakage and stabilize the code base for those
systems.

This model works for linux with really old releases being maintained by 
interested people. It is doable. It is reasonable.

Yes, absolutely. These old releases live in extra branches. Same thing
we need to do.
