Sorry, I don't see the relevance of that web page. The article/rant is rehashing things that were known months or even years ago, and it mixes firmware topics with whining about Microsoft in general and OOXML in particular.
We created the Linux-in-firmware market and commercial BIOS vendors have followed suit. That was to be expected and even welcome. As BIOS offer less and less features and move more functionality to the OS in ROM (Linux etc.), the playing field morphs more into something where coreboot does thrive.
The BIOS/firmware market is feature-driven and cost-driven right now. While coreboot can compete easily on these counts, it also offers unmatched reliability and modifiability. The former is very desired for mission-critical computers, the latter appeals to the enthusiast market.
A nice side benefit of all this development is that BIOS vendors must offer unique selling points to keep their market share and that's good for the end-user.
