So here is the lspci of the board I have (which includes a post lcd readout directly on the mobo). I'm a little concerned that the lspci doesn't recognize the Host and PCI bridges...
So what are my chances on this one?
This is the motherboard: http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/techspec.php?categories=1&model=311
And attached lspci

The RD580 is not in the Linux PCI ID database yet; not at pcidatabase.com either.
So what are my chances on this one?
It seems to be pretty much compatible to the RD480; but no single ATi chipset is supported by LinuxBIOS yet afaik.
If you're lucky the PCIe bridges work without any chipset specific initialisation. No matter what, some work is required.
Good luck,

it is not AM2 socket.

Just out of curiousity, why does it matter? Is S939 not supported at all, only AM2?

I mean that is some old.

that seems use ALi southbridge.
for LinuxBIOS porting: 1. Northbrige (mem controller) may take several months. 2. SB bridge may take several weeks. 3. MB may take several hours or days if all cpu/nb/sb support is there
