Hello!
First, I really like the idea and the work around linuxbios.
For my PhD research in new medical solutions I need a very special PC-configuration: The PC must be absolutely silent and, however, be powerful. The next point is, that the PC should use as less boot time as possible. This is why I think about a linuxbios - compatible board. Due the mainboard will be put in a small case, I can just use mini- or micro atx boards. The only boards in this size I could determine are VIA-EPIA boards. Unfortunately, they are too slow for my applications.
For passive cooling and long battery usage I thought about a Turion or Sempron CPU.
So in one sentence, I am looking for an mini or micro atx board, compatible with AMD Turion (Sempron), which supports linuxbios.
Is there anyone who can help me?
Many thanks, greetings, Morly
Actually there are a lot more cpu's available to do that. You can use a pentium-m on such a board (there are boards mini-itx that supports them), you can use a athlon64 low power (there are athlon64, socket 939, that consumes 35W, so just some watts more in comparison with pentium-m) and also opteron64, socket 940, that consumes 30W.
There is also an epia board that has dual cpu instead of only one.
The support from linuxbios for these systems, has to be answered by another guy, sorry!

One that comes close to what you need might be this one:
http://www.win-ent.com/MB-06047.htm
It features an Opteron CPU and so might need some thoughts about passive cooling. Also it is not supported by LinuxBIOS yet, but probably not hard to get it to work.

It just needs an enclosure built from an AL extrusion like this:

Sounds really good, unfortunately I need at least one PCI Slot, one serial port, usb 2.0, and maybe one parallel port (could be realized with an usb-parallel adabter) The mb-06047 only has one pci-express
Any other suggestions?
Thanks, Morly

Hello, once more!
I got the suggestion of a board named win-ent - MB-06047. Unfortunately I don't get any answer of the European shop. (I am from Austria!) But now I know that I can also use Opteron Processors, the ones with 30W. So does anyone know a mini or micro atx board ready for linuxbios? (a board with vga onboard, rs232, maybe parallel, usb 2.0 a pci slot)
Many thanks, Morly

They reply not very fast enough. But they do. I've asked sale price, if you're interested - drop an email to my box.
