with cache off

and, apparently, no enet interrupts (or interrupts of any kind? not sure 
yet)

what has happened is that people put changes in and did not test them. 
Also there are a few poorly designed bits that came in (uart8250) that I 
have had to work with. The cache is not back yet, due to some problem I 
don't yet understand. Other changes for the -m and -mII broke other 
stuff. Ethernet is not back yet-- I'm still working that one.

We'll get there, but it's been a bit of work.
