I have an M2V, haven't tried coreboot yet, but flashrom works like a charm after some effortless tweaking. PLCC is socketed. The onboard flash chip still needs support in flashrom though. I flashed an W39V040B there, the M2V has a W39V040C. Then again, you should probably pick a bioas with a 8Mb chip. ASRocks are mostly crap, don't be surprised if they decide to die while in development.

Can you post a patch?

flashrom -V, please.

I thought they had improved in the last few years.
Can you post superiotool, dmidecode, lspci -nnvvvxxx to the list in a new thread? That would help a lot to check how difficult porting is going to be.

Ok,
I got some response from VIA that K8T890CF is quite similar. As I said. There are some changes. Question is what to ask now, because the M2V seems to be not available.
Go for K8M890/VT8237A?
I have following plan. Someone from Coreboot community will also get NDA plus me. I think I'm able to answer most of the questions so I will act as some kind of filter and we shell ask VIA only in trouble.
Lets agree on the chipset first.

I'm all for it K8M890, but do we want to target VT8237Rplus (M2V-TVM), VT8237A (M2V-MX) or VT8237S(M2V-MX SE)? Unfortunately, the only comparison between these southbridges is http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/VIA_Southbridges

Maybe Stefan can get such a NDA?

Good idea.

I know at least one difference between VT8237A and VT8237R on register level (it is already documented somewhere). I guess this should not cause many troubles.

I gained such NDA as individual, through the web based form. It took a lot of time (one month). This all leads me to that idea that you or Uwe or someone else can go for NDA too. Due to lack of any free time, I can just help you to understand some caveats of datasheets and general design. I spent lot of time playing with this. So thats the reason I'm proposing this scheme.

Above is some more text to this.
