Hi,
is the v3 port of Alix.2C3 as stable as the v3 port of Alix.1C? Can I boot from USB/CompactFlash? I prefer to have a broader basis for my Alix.1C LinuxTag workshop, so if anybody with Alix.2C3 shows up, being able to help him as well would be cool. This is especially important because Alix.1C are out of stock at PCEngines.
Regards, Carl-Daniel

More so I would argue, since there's no vga to worry about :)
Can I boot from USB/CompactFlash?
I boot from CF; have not yet tried booting from USB.
All devices do work though - I have tested all network interfaces, USB, etc.
The only thing we don't have yet is flashrom support, hint hint :)
Thanks, Ward.

I'm surprised flashrom doesn't work. Can you give me more details, preferably with flashrom svn HEAD?

that's a surprise to me too, as I have been using flashrom for months on 1c.
Is this flashrom to the LPC or on-board?

Yeah, it works perfectly on the 1C.

Flashrom to the on-board, have not tried to the LPC (I use the artecgroup dongle, so not much point in that).
It's a different chip: AMIC A49LF040 - the label on mine says
A49LF040ATY-33F
I tried adding the right ids to flashrom a while back but that didn't immediately work. Have not had time to investigate further.
Thanks, Ward.

Was it recognized with the right IDs or did that fail as well?
By the way, the A49LF040 is very peculiar according to its data sheet: It uses the JEDEC ID sequence, but in register space and not data space.

This may be the entire problem.
As Carl-Daniel writes the Amic chips are not supported by flashrom at the moment, and they do need special care.
I have also sent a question to PC Engines regarding flashrom support on the 2c and 3c boards.
Please feel free to investigate supporting the Amic flash chip in the meantime, if you want to. :)

I can at the end of the week, I'm far away from my hardware at the moment :)
Thanks, Ward.
