Hi Richard,
I normally do not reply to threads started by someone (arc@gnu.org) who is unwilling to state his/her real name and announces that he has blacklisted the e-mail address of the founder of coreboot.
"arc" whatever it may be, is not anti-Ron, he (or she, or it...) is anti-gmail, which is something I can fully understand. But obviously I also agree with you that someone with a real opinion should have a real name, too.
Torsten
I didn't reply before because I didn't fully understand that statement. :)
We are on the internet and I have the right to express my opinion without revealing my name and surname. I have the right to maintain my privacy if I wish and I have the right to express my opinion too, if I wish.
This is freedom of speech and it's a shame that people like you who are part of such a project don't understand this.
:(
I didn't want to offend or ignore anybody, trust me. As you can read on my personal website: www.chi3.org I am an italian free software and free culture activist. I was part of the Winston Smith Project too: http://pws.winstonsmith.info/
Since 2001 I'm active in Italy to defend free software and spread digital freedom. Some days ago I found on the FSF website a call for help the free bios project and so I decided to write to Intel via the form on their website.
As Richard said, this is not the best way to push them so I wrote to you because I REALLY want to help you. I even ordered an OLPC because of the free bios in it.
We are really fighting for the same cause my friends. I wrote to the coreboot list to ask how can I help you, how can I make some pressure or whatever.
I don't know how to write code but I still want to help so if you had some suggestions for me I will accept them.
Thank you very much for all your wonderful work and sorry if I caused some confusion.

Sure. In these cases, a pseudonym has proven to be handy quite often. As you might see, an assumed gender is helpful when referring to your statements.

You are surely free to express your opinions, but a recognisable person, be it real or virtual, helps to account statements and gives them more weight. This is only a hint, do as you like.

Good example. Here you are "arc", there you are "chi3". A cross-reference would be nice, like "Chi3" arc@mit.edu, plus that link in the .sig. Again, just a suggestion. My Italian is not very good, but I assume your suggested gender is male?
As Richard said, this is not the best way to push them so I wrote to you because I REALLY want to help you.
Thank you, help is always welcome.

You prefer to block mail from google, some people prefer real names. Let's not let that get into our (common) way.
Torsten
Ok, let's beat the dead horse a few more times..... I think we are all on the same page about open source software or we wouldn't be here. I think all the frustrations are not being directed towards the correct direction. Please, could we move on and get back to what really is important here..... which is.... remember coreboot? I would rather spend my time writing some code than having to sort through my email with all this petty stuff. If you have an issue with a vender, please direct your concerns to them..... enough said.

Great! Are you subscribed to the mailing list? I'll stop sending you copies in that case.

Very admirable. :) It does have free boot firmware, but note that it isn't coreboot anymore. They moved on to a completely custom firmware since they don't really need any of the flexibility coreboot offers.

We could use help also with other tasks than writing code I am sure. What are you good at? We could use a technical writer to make stellar documentation and tutorials.
Are you knowledgeable in the low level technologies that coreboot deals with? If not, are you interested in learning about it? There are many opportunities and areas and we would be happy to help you.
I guess what I'm saying is that we don't have a action list with non-coding tasks ready and that your ideas are welcome.
