we have successfully applied for Google Summer of Code(tm) 2007.

This sounds sweet!! Unfortunatly I am not currently in school but do  
want to help. I am especially interested in the GRUB2 works. Can I get  
signed up??

For signing up at GSoC you need to be a full or part time student.

But of course you are welcome to help in the suggested projects without
being part of GSoC.

The deadline for student applications is March 24, so there's not much
time left to apply!
