Dual core or dual CPU?
Several supported Tyan boards (e.g. s2892) support two CPUs.

From boot logs of the M57SLI-S4 it seems like the athlon X2 works fine.
Right now, you would probably get a MB with an SPI BIOS if you buy one, and those boards seem to be a bit of work in progress. You may want to try any of the boards listed on http://www.linuxbios.org/Desktops if you feel adventurous.
