I think they were alphabetized before in the same way that ls alphabetizes them.
$ ls src/mainboard | grep ^a a-trend abit advantech amd arima artecgroup
Hm, I think I used the output of "ls -lA" for my list (no special reason, just happens to be my bash alias for 'l').
