Thanks that helps a lot. Also though I would like to know if anyone knows if SLIT has been implemented by the major BIOS vendors? I would think that maybe it hasn't since it would require customization probably every time.

ACPI support in LinuxBIOS has to be implemented for each board extra. Currently not all boards in LinuxBIOS support ACPI (most don't), but from a quick look at the code it _seems_ that these two _do_ have SLIT support:
