I'm my case I only had to changed the defconfig used to compile the kernel to enable the SATA support for my board:
CONFIG_SATA_AHCI=y CONFIG_SATA_MOBILE_LPM_POLICY=0 CONFIG_SATA_AHCI_PLATFORM=y
