I am sorry that you have not yet gotten any replies. (Therefore I am putting you into CC if you are not reading the list.)

I see the Asus M2A-MX board has a WIP status. I have one, and I'd be eager to try coreboot on it, for kicks mostly. Is anyone working on the code, a.k.a. do I have any hope of getting to try coreboot any time soon?
It depends on how much knowledge and experience you have. If I remember correctly the flash chip is not socketed, so to be able to recover you would have to do some soldering.
As far as I know coreboot did basically work on that board some time ago. I do not know if it is working when build from the latest tree.
Back then carldani did the port. I think there were some problems that not every memory configuration is supported. You would have to search the list archives for that. But carldani told me that he has a patch lying around on his system.
Good luck and if you have questions you can also join the IRC channel.
Thanks,
Paul
