My time is very limited as well. I hope that this changes sometime in March.
For the long term, Id like to contribute to the porting of
coreboot-v3 on this
board.. (but firstly, I have to familiarize myself with the coreboot-v3 architecture..)
That would be great! Coreboot v3 is a lot easier to understand and its boot messages are mostly self-explaining. The qemu target should work just fine.
Yep it would be cool. If you do the K8 stuff I will do the VIA chipset stuff porting.
I'd say we first try to get the Alix.1C Geode LX working perfectly in v3 to better understand all issues in v3 hardware bringup. With luck, that will happen this weekend. Then I hope porting most Geode LX targets will be easy and give us a better feeling of what should be done in mainboard specific code vs. processor/chipset specific code. After that, porting K8 code would be the obvious next step, although I hope we can clean up the code a lot before moving it to v3.
My goal for the next 6 months is to obsolete all v2 Geode LX targets by supporting them in v3. That and the easier porting should move enough development resources to v3 for it to gain strong momentum and quite a bit of media coverage.
