Are you able to get out on SSH, port 22? If so, set up CVS via SSH.
Sourceforge make it quite easy to set up.

My Etherboot CVS environment looks like this...

CVSROOT=:ext:[e-mail]:/cvsroot/etherboot
CVS_RSH=/usr/bin/ssh
