Okay, I'm forced to admit that I'm a bit overwhelmed by the source
code...I've made some progress towards understanding how exactly
everything works and where changes need to be made, but I won't have the
hardware to toy around with for a few more days. In the meantime, would
it cause issue if I were to statically set the value of the ram to a
trivial minimal value (such as 8mb), as a fallback should the SPD return
0? Both of the 440bx boards I have here now were freebies, so it's no
real loss if I brick them, but it'd be nice to know in advance.

BTW (if anyone cares), I have changed my email address (needed one that
would let me use a real mail program), this is my new one.
