That's very rare and valuable. It should not be removed.
Well, while that is true, the SoC is not available anymore.
If there is specific maintenance burden around a task, this should be identified so it can be addressed.
It is identified already and can only be addressed by a volunteer taking over maintership of the SoC. This should be someone who owns the board to be able to test changes.
