[LinuxBIOS] Possibly OT, but wotthehell - restricted memory C code

I came across the LinuxBIOS articles in LinuxJournal and got interested in the 
description of romcc and what it did.

Are there any books, articles, etc, (either C or Assembler) on writing code 
for a memory space as restricted and/or non-existent as romcc was written to 
handle?
