In theory there is no problem.

However, the southbridge needs to decode the full 2Mbyte (these
are 16Mbit parts) address range for it to be useful in practice.

Check out the southbridge data sheets. I've only seen options to
decode 1Mbyte in the few southbridge docs I've looked at.
