asking can't hurt, can it?
yes.. it does hurt.
You seriously mean that asking a rather specific question about intentions and plans for the future hurts the relation? Obviously there are many reasons why there would be no answer to the question, but on the other hand maybe there was a simple answer and it just hadn't reached us yet.
Morgan gave us everything he could.
I can't help but feel this is an exaggeration.
Why turn right around on the heels of the submission and ask for more?
I believe the question was asked in enthousiasm over the new, encouraging, contact with the vendor.
Especially for a driver
I interpreted the question as a simple inquiry about what to expect in the future. I did not get the impression that Morgan or SiS were asked to produce a driver, only about possible intentions. If there's no answer, I think that's fine.
that has nothing at all to do with this project?
I think any native graphics driver is actually pretty closely related to this project, since we're of course interested in initializing graphics along with the rest of the hardware.
