Order of Execution

Hello, My attempt at a sis530 port seems to be coming along. I am almost ready to compile and try this thing. I am though confused or unclear as to the order that stuff needs to happen. I assume that eventually I initialize RAM and then superIO and all that, what I don't understand is the basic order of execution, this happens and then this needs to and then this ... etc. I have been using as a guide the sis540 chipset and stuff like that to get my configuration files together and as examples, but well since the code for stuff is spread accross trees, what happens when I make one of these projects? Does it take the mainboard.c file first, then the raminit? I'm not sure if I am being as clear as possible, but if anyone has a clue what I'm asking about it would help. For example, the raminit and the chipset specific code is usually assembly, whereas the mainboard.c is well, C. Boot from Network

Hi, All: I have a problem about boot from network. When I choose the option, the screen shows: Searching for server (DHCP)... When 20 retries completed, it shows: ....No Server Found. I can confirm the package is sent and the server has received it. Who could tell me why? Best Regards, Lawrence

STPC status

can't probe MD2802-D08

linuxbios support DOC millennium MD2800-D08 well. but now m-sys distribute its new product called MD2802-D08 millennium module using the DIP assembly. the m-sys documentation shows MD2800-D08 and MD2802-D08 are compatible. when i use md2802-D08 , docprobe can't find it. need help from someone who has the experience using md2802-d08. thanks zhu shi song __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? pci-pci bridge woes

This isn't a linuxbios problem, but there are many people lurking here who have the knowledge to help (I think...) I've got a backplane system, nothing fancy: 7 ISA and 9 PCI. 5 of the 7 PCI are behind a DEC 21150 PCI-PCI bridge. behind the bridge I have physically installed three RTL8139s, a QuickNet PhoneJACK and a WMP11. Linux was compiled to use direct access for PCI (tried "any" setting and booted with pci=biosirq too) only the WMP11 isn't showing up in lspci. lspci -H1 shows it though. I used to have an Orinoco gold in a PLX-based adaptor and it worked just fine in that same slot. Can anyone help me get this detected so the module can be loaded? I think the bridge is working just fine, since I can access 4 of the 5 devices, but I'm at a loss as to why a direct-pci-accessing kernel cannot find the device, but an lspci -H1 (direct hardware accessing lspci) can. dmesg doesn't show anything interesting at all that I can find, but I've attached it and my lspci dumps. The code base is as of about August; I haven't updated lately. The motherboard I am using is a pcchips 787cl+. Also, one thing I was working on is a graphics splash or logo screen, that holds for a few seconds at startup. The linuxbios logo is great, is there a larger version of this, suitable for 640x480 display? -Steve

LinuxBIOS and Vxworks

Hi, folks We have a custom board based on 440LX chipset and successfully use LinuxBIOS to boot linux kernel. In the near future we'll have VxWorks on the same hardware platform. It would be very nice to have LinuxBIOS booting this OS as well. Do you think this is possible ? Any hints or pointers would be very much appreciated. TIA. Felix.

Hi, PLEASE IGNORE THE ATTACHMENT !! I trying to bring up my System with LinuxBIOS.My machine configuration is as follow: MainBoard: vc15. NorthBridge: Intel 845 MCH Southbridge: INtel 82801BA SuperIO: SMSC LPC47M192. I have modified the linuxBIOS to support these component as per their specification. I build the Image also. When started the system with the new image, I am getting following lines only through serial output: Welcome to minicom 2.00.0 OPTIONS: History Buffer, F-key Macros, Search History Buffer, I18n Compiled on Feb 26 2002, 09:38:06.
