It is a PCI card which displays the value of port address 80. In LinuxBIOS source, it is not hard to find, eg. intel_chip_post_macro(0x11) It will dump 0x11 to port 80, and POST card will display 11 on its LED. While debugging, you can record the value and search thru the source to see where LinuxBIOS hangs. flash_rom problem

I added printk's into the keyboard.c all the right bits appear to be getting set and in serveral places the keyboard routines check for a specific return value back from port 60 if these don't happen then I print out a failure. Hi, In my romimage with linuxbios+etherboot payload, I do not see any section header, whereas in an EPIA romimage which I got from forum seems to have EPIA section headers. Should this be OK ? Should there be some problem with the build,etc? Hello, i'm doing documentation about the code of LinuxBios with ADLO for my thesis, and i thought that may be you can helpme in things that are usefull to know for understand the code of LinuxBios. Of course after the document can be for linuxbios. I started by a mail of Greg Watson that explain how is linked crt0.S and linuxbios, after this i started to explain the main things of hardwaremain.c that jump to the elfboot and finally elfboot to kernel. Any one thing that is usefull to explain something else ? Another thing that is a little confused in me .., the true point of start code, in some info say that is in 0xf0000, but in the compilation of ms7308e i see that is in: linuxbios.map:00080004 T _start i supose that then it depends of the motherboard ... At the moment it's all. Thanks for all. Xavi.

jmp_to_elf_entry

Greetings, Looks like I've trodden on an unused code path, and found a bug. In arch/i386/boot/boot.c: jmp_to_elf_entry, the idea is to copy all of the running code (linuxbios, or a baremetal payload) to a bounce buffer, jump into the copy there, copy the bounce buffer of the target elf into place, and call it. Upon return, the process is reversed, so that (in theory) jmp_to_elf_entry returns and further processing can happen. For some reason, the lines that subtract the adjustment from EAX, then jump to move execution back to the proper place was failing. I've patched it in the copy kept in util/baremetal/lib so that instead, it loads the eventual jmp target into ecx, then saves it away on the stack. I'm surely missing something here, but the original goes into space while the simple save off is working. I suppose that's just because we've never tried to return to LinuxBIOS from a payload before. The baremetal version also skips adjusting ESP since I'm moving the stack out of the way first. Ignore the // debugging stuff, that was just to see where things were going wrong (I'll be getting rid of that). Eric, since you wrote that part, I wanted to run this by you before making any changes in LinuxBIOS itself.
