GRUB2 is not displaying Hard disk (hd0) partition

Hi All, In GRUB2 command prompt, I am not seeing hard disk partitions like *(hd0), (hd0,msdos1),* Instead I am seeing* (ahci4), (ahci4,msdos1).* Usually, GRUB2 will list all the drives that coreboot presents to it. I think coreboot presenting drives in "AHCI" (not in "hd) format. So that GRUB2 displaying drives in AHCI format. Correct me, If I am wrong. Is there any changes to do in menuconfig? Intel Sandy Bridge: oscillator frequency changed on CLKOUTFLEX1 (GPIO65) after me_cleaner

Hello everyone! On my motherboard Super I/O work with 48MHz input frequency from GPIO65 (CLKOUTFLEX1). But after ME disabling, signal frequency on this pin is only 14.3 MHz. In QM67 datasheet described what oscillators frequency sets by ME. So, question: is there some way to setup right oscillator frequency without ME? Modesetting not working on KGPE-D16

I upgraded to 4.6 and everything was fine for awhile but now I receive a corrupted screen when I modeset like with v4.5, I can't find anything obvious in dmesg. Ideas?

I concur with what tim said. If you really need more x86 juice you'd be better off getting a 6386 (16 core) or 6328 (8 core). Btw welcome to the libre cool kids club!

That being said, the Opterons already consume a massive amount of electrical power compared to the i7. In my experience if you want to overclock significantly you need to start dropping CPU load (i.e. unloading cores) to avoid burning out mainboard circuitry (or PSU wiring!). The increase in power consumption versus clock rate is exponential (as you probably know), but when you start with dual 115W CPUs that can go into some serious power very quickly. For reference, I have a 6-core Opteron here (C32) that overclocked to 4.2GHz stably, but it is attached to a massive 5U air cooler and uses over double its rated TDP in the process. This was also a hand-picked HE chip as other chips did not overclock that well. The power reporting gives bad numbers under overclock, while the hard thermal limits continue to function. Furthermore, overclocking these chips requires disabling large chunks of the power management functionality, meaning you'll be using power as if the system is under full load even when it isn't. On the balance, I chose not to release the tools due to the significant liability involved and the fact that (given the AMD-imposed limitations that had to be hacked around) they not going to help most people do anything other than burn out hardware and waste power. Furthermore, I'd rather see community effort focused on newer architectures (ARM, POWER) than trying to squeeze a bit more performance / a bit more time from a terminally non-free architecture (x86). Ethernet/Wifi not working with coreboot/seabios/me_cleaner on a Thinkpad x230

Hi, I've flashed coreboot with seaBIOS and me_cleaner to my Thinkpad x230 and everything works fine except the network. Neither wifi nor ethernet works. Could this be a problem with the gbe.bin I've used (I extracted it with ifdtool -x from the factory bios and the first time I did this on another Thinkpad x230 it worked perfectly)?
