Does the current LinuxBIOS code support PCI Express? LinuxBIOS contains PCI Express support code, but does it actually work? Has anyone successfully used a PCI Express SATA controller via LinuxBIOS with an nVidia CK8-04/nForce4 chipset? Or a PCI Express video card? Or any PCI Express card or device? I have an nVidia CK8-04 CRB mainboard. Somewhere, I heard that the bus nmubers for certain devices had to be multiples of 0x40 for the CK8-04 chipset, but I can't recall which devices and why they had to be on bus 0, 40, 80, & C0. As you can see above, LinuxBIOS and PhoenixBIOS use very different bus numbers. The onboard ATA, USB (pen drive) and Ethernet eth0 (didn't try eth1) are working. Right now, I'd like to test PCI Express. It would be great to have a PCI Express bus analyzer and execizer, but they are very expensive. I think the cheapest and easiest way to test PCI Express is via a PCI Express SATA controller or maybe a PCI Express video card. I'm planning to get the following PCI Express cards: Siig SCSAE012S1 SATA II PCI Express card http://www.directron.com/scsae012s1.html ATI Radeon X300 SE 128MB PCI Express card http://www.ati.com/products/radeonx300/specs.html Is there anything wrong with my plan to use either of these particular PCI Express cards to test PCI Express on my nVidia CK8-04 CRB? To test PCI Express with the video card I would need to use testbios or the integrated VGA support of LinuxBIOS? It seems that this could get too complicated for just testing that PCI Express works. The PCI Express SATA controller seems much easier. Is there an easier way to test PCI Express with the PCI Express video card such as simply reading and writing to its RAM (in other words, not using it as a video device)? Thank you! Hi everyone, I've got a small question to ask. I am working with Dorado board which consist of SC2200 ( Geode based) as the processor. I am trying to load windows 2000 with LILO as boot loader with LinuxBIOS (LinuxBIOS + ADLO). I am not having VGA support. So I want to see the debug information on the serial (UART) port. I made serial port redirection at LinuxBIOS level. Is Serial port redirection possible after the Windows 2000 comes up. Can some one help me on serial port redirection at LILO level and OS booting level also. I am sorry if I am not clear. I am struck up at this level. So any help can be really boost for me. I came across the LinuxBIOS articles in LinuxJournal and got interested in the description of romcc and what it did. Are there any books, articles, etc, (either C or Assembler) on writing code for a memory space as restricted and/or non-existent as romcc was written to handle? You replied to a digest and included the _entire_ digest. If you can't take the time and effort to format your message nicely then most lists will not take the time to respond to you. Re: your post. Most of the developers here are booting linux OS's so you are not going to get much help unless you are pretty specific about what problem you are seeing. I think only about 5 of us or so have messed with using ADLO and bochs bios to boot MS stuff. You may also have to seek the help of the bochs people but again you will need to provide more detail. Ie. What bios interrupt(s) you think may not be working and what you have tried. If you look at the wiki there are links to a write up for the sucessful booting of w2k from the author of ADLO. I've tried it, so strike prejudice, but wrong mindset I'll admit to. :) The problem I had with reliability came from the fact that GRUB stage 1 loads stage 1.5 from fs, and if that fs got corrupted no OS could be booted at all. I had to replace GRUB with MBR from DOS6 over the phone with one person. > So, maybe you should give it a shot one more time.
