I also have another problem: VGA does not work *USUALLY*. I mean, I have seen several times that VGA works, but in most cases, does not. And, I can not understand what is the difference. I did some experiment, like turning off power, not pushing reset button, or once you boot it with normal bios, and then switch to LX, or.... But, I have not found any rule so far. That bit is cleared default, and if you don't want to dual core, you don't need to set it.... That's OK, the kernel problem.... It assumes all nbcfg 54 bit is set.....with out check it. So it could treat Node1/core0 as Node0/Core1.... [LinuxBIOS] S2882 - Fallback Only?

First off thanks for your help with the APIC problems on my system. Now I am trying to straighten out the boot sequence. I have noticed that I am booting off the fallback image. Both images are build using the payload and the same configuration. However, I would like to use Filo with USB disk support, and that increased Filo's size by 50% from 24K to 34K. This makes filo large to fit inside of the 131K room for the fallback rom image. Is there any help you guys could give me as to why I am not booting off the primary image? Thanks, Matt

Don't need. You can put the payload as follow FULL_FILO_WITH_USB+NORMAL_IMAGE+FALLBACK_IMAGE Then you make filo to be very simple one with command line to boot the FULL_FILO_WITH_USB in FLASH. Or you can use tiny kernel as payload for normal back, then fallback can jump that kernel. Please check README.filo_in_etherboot for more command lines about mem@0xfffe0000 you may need to subtract the size for VGA Option rom on flash if you are using it. Disabling dual core on our s2891 boards with Opteron 270's doesn't seem to work properly. When I boot with dual core disabled, I am getting two cores on one socket enabled and none on the other socket. After hard coding the apicid_base = 1 in the mptable.c I was finally able to successfully build a bios image for my system. I am using filo as the payload and the configuration of that went well. Both LinuxBios and filo are working as expected. The problem occurs when I attempt to boot the kernel. The kernel stops after the memory manager loads. There are no errors or panics. The system just locks up. I was wondering if any of you have seen this problem, or know of a work around. I am including the kernel output from the serial console. As well as a brief description of the configuration of the system.
