ROM address is to high

Hi, I try to put my ROM address at 0xFFF00000, but the script file gave me the following error: Trying to create ppc/mpc824x/ldscript.ld Traceback (innermost last): File "/home/jfha/mpc8240/src/freebios-20010708/util/config/NLBConfig.py", line 636, in ? writeldscript(outputdir) File "/home/jfha/mpc8240/src/freebios-20010708/util/config/NLBConfig.py", line 488, in writeldscript file.write('_ROMBASE = 0x%lx;\n' % linuxbiosbase) OverflowError: long int too long to convert It seems to have a problem with this : biosbase 0xFFF00100 <<crt0.base>> <<ldscript.base>> <<make.base>> This number seems to big. My boot ROM is at 0xFFF00000. Do you have any suggestions ? If I put the ROM address at 0xFFF0000, then everthing compile until the compile try to make the rom. VIA EPIA - Trying to get it built

OK, I'm finally diving into this, thanks to Andrew Ip LinuxBIOS for the VIA EPIA board is close to where I need it to be. Now, I'm looking to help. I've run into my first set of problems.... I used the K7SEM HOWTO for some of the info since there isn't a VIA EPIA HOWTO yet. Am I supposed to patch the kernel for VIA EPIA? Errors: When I run make I get: gcc ... -o version.o /.../freebios/src/lib/version.c /.../freebios/src/lib/version.c:10:2: #error MAINBOARD_VENDOR not defined /.../freebios/src/lib/version.c:13:2: #error MAINBOARD_PART_NUMBER not defined make: *** [version.o] Error 1 So, I tried to fix this by putting "#define MAINBOARD_VENDOR "via"" and "#define MAINBOARD_PART_NUMBER "epia"" into /.../freebios/src/lib/version.c. This takes care of the compiler error. Where should these defines be made? Again, I run make and get "make: *** No rule to make target '.../freebios/mainboard.c', needed by 'mainboard.o'. Stop. I see that mainboard is in Makefile, so what's the problem.

To all, I have been assigned the task of building a bios for our geode sc1200 project using linuxbios. I have downloaded the current cvs snapshot, and read all the documents I could find. Unfortunately, I don't see any info on building it for the geode. Can anyone point me in the right direction? John Allen

hi , all, I am a postgraduate student of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics ( in china , Beijing). I want to write a BIOS debugger as my graduation article. My plan are as follow: 1. firstly I want to write a debug stub which is INDEPENDENT of specific Mainchips, and small enough. The stub can set up a basic environment ( such as RAM initialization, uart initialization). linuxbios can't identify celeron 850MHz

Zhu, It seems that your 850mhz celeron chip should be running at a 100Mhz bus (8.5x clock multiplier. 8.5*100mhz = 850Mhz) instead, you are feeding it 66Mhz. (8.5*66 = 560Mhz) You can fix this by talking to your clock chip and telling it to change the clock speed. sbc8240 board bring up

Hi Ron, I did not bring up the board with the linux bios, but I finally print a message on the serial port. I am beginning the linux bios porting now. I got some questions first : 1 - Does linux bios needs any special memory mapping, memory settings ? 2 - Do I need to use address translation on the PCI ? 3 - Is there any special settings to use a video card ? DOC ATA Modules & EPIA DOC

I am looking finding alternatives to having a physical harddrive in my machine, i was wondering if anyone here has experience w/ either of the following. My goal is to boot LinuxBIOS out of flash, and then Linux off a Solid State Devices. ATA-Disk Module SST58SM128 http://www.sst.com/products.xhtml/mass_storage/58/SST58SM128 or similar from Apacer http://www.apacer.com/product/flash/index_adc_adm.html Currently i am using CF w/ an ATA -> IDE adapter. I have not found a way to write protect my CF data. as a side note.. I am still looking into the DOC option for the EPIA motherboard, via has not replied to any of my requests as to what type of chips are supported on the DOC PAD on the EPIA-800e motherboard. Anyone know more about this? Thanks -Nick
