There was at some point in the v3 discussions (3 years ago!) some idea
that the Ultimate Recovery would be via serial line.

But since we've never used xmodem.c AFAICT ...

It's not that important to me.  It's small and never compiled.  Maybe
someone will pick it up in the future.
