Hi. After some unsuccessful attempts to run X with EPIA-M (4-bit with 'vga' driver is out of score) I could finally experience full color and quite stable video playback at 1280x1024x16 resolution. So it seems to me I'm the third person after Martin Ley and Jun Okajima to see the how EPIA-M is performing with video enabled ;-)
What I've done:
1) xorg.conf - should be enabled one option (it is essential): Option "NoAccel" "yes". 2) 'via' driver. I used the one from unichrome project (via_drv.o-unichrome_X_r20-debian_sarge_xfree86-4.3.0.dfsg.1-1) and Martin's Ley driver (from his debian box). 3) ran x11perf
Video playback with MPlayer ('xv' video output driver) is quite smooth. "Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy" encoded as DX50 with 520x300 pixels is played at 30% of CPU workload. I'm not sure that x11perf will present all necessary charts so I'm asking you - which X11 benchmark should be used to measure all parrots?
Thanks.
If someone would like to write a comprehensive epia-m HOWTO I will put it in the linuxbios HOWTO directory.
thanks

Maybe someone wants to update this one?
